The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted heavy monsoon rains and urban flooding across the country from 1st to 6th August.
According to PMD, thunderstorms, severe storms, and heavy rainfall is expected in major cities of the country. Kashmir and Muzaffarabad are expected to experience heavy rain from today onwards to the 6th of August. There are forecasts for thunderstorms and heavy rain in several areas, including Punjab, Islamabad, and Sargodha, from August 1 to 6. In certain places, there may even be the possibility of catastrophic storms. Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, and Dera Ghazi Khan are predicted to see intense rainfall, high winds, and thunderstorms from August 2–6. Heavy monsoon rains are expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, and Swabi from the 1st to the 6th of August, and similar conditions in eastern Balochistan. In Sindh, from 2nd to 6th August, heavy rain with thunderstorms is predicted in Mithi, Umarkot, Thatta, and Badin, while Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are expected to face heavy rains from 3rd to 6th August.
PMD has warned the concerned authorities that heavy rainfall can cause disruptions by posing a threat of land sliding and urban flooding.
