PAKSAT-MM1, Pakistan’s inaugural multi-mission satellite, has effectively concluded its testing and is now operational, cementing a significant milestone.
Speaking on Wednesday at the PAKSAT-MM1 Satellite Application Conference, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication, emphasized once more the government’s will to employ space technologies for national development.
She underlined the significance of the satellite in tackling one of Pakistan’s ongoing issues by giving internet connectivity to the underprivileged areas where conventional infrastructure development has proved difficult.
She expressed her view that technology’s revolutionary potential can lead to significant advances in important industries such as education and healthcare.
Muhammad Yousuf Khan, Chairman of SUPARCO, lauded the team behind PAKSAT-MM1, calling the satellite as a key tool for socioeconomic growth and enhancing Pakistan’s standing in the global space industry.
The services of broadband internet, telecommunications, and data transfer will be provided along with high internet speed by PAKSAT-MM1 satellite.
The satellite’s capacity to deliver 5G coverage solves the long-standing problems of high prices in establishing conventional telecom infrastructure in remote areas.
Experts estimate that if PakSat-MM1 is implemented and used well, it might increase Pakistan’s GDP by up to 2.5 percent. The satellite is expected to remain operational for 15 years.
