The Pakistan Army has established a small freelancing hub in Shigar, a town in the Gilgit-Baltistan region, to promote digital skills and online opportunities for the local youth. The mini freelancing hub was established at Govt Boys High School Shigar by the Pakistan Army as part of an initiative under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).

Mahboob Ali, the school’s vice principal, appreciated the efforts and called it a source of employment opportunities for many children. He expressed his gratitude to the Pakistan Army and the Chief of Army Staff for their consideration towards Gilgit Baltistan. Youth, and Local communities have expressed gratitude for the Pakistan Army and SIFC’s efforts in bringing this opportunity to their area.

This step will increase economic opportunities in Gilgit and develop the digital economy by producing more remote jobs.
