The United Arab Emirates is set to launch its space tourism with space flights scheduled for the year 2025. These trips will start from Rs. 45.5 million (UAE Dh 600,000) and run from Abu Dhabi and Spain. The cost per passenger ranges between Dh600,000 to Dh800,000, depending on the Passenger’s choice of package.
Kemel Kharbachi, founder of European space firm EOS-X Space said that the development of the Spaceship One manned capsules is nearing completion. The firm said that the company would soon conduct essential validation tests with military pilots in collaboration with Spain’s prestigious National Institute for Aerospace Technology (INTA). The EOS-X Space’s pressurized capsules will be able to accommodate up to eight people including the pilot and are lifted by an eco-friendly helium balloon. These capsules can reach the stratosphere’s edge at an altitude of 40, 000 meters, with views of space, blue hallo, and Earth’s curvature during a five-hour trip. This contrasts with Blue Origin’s 11-minute rocket flight. This program will feature cultural, gastronomic, regenerative medicine, and wellness experiences.
The company stated that Abu Dhabi will host the firm’s most ambitious complex globally, also will feature the shuttle and the spaceport with a hotel complex situated on Yas Island. Another facility is planned for Tulum, Mexico, and is expected to be operational by 2026.
The space tourism market is estimated at over $9 billion globally. ‘The development of space tourism offers investment prospects as vast and promising as human curiosity. There will come a time, similar to the aviation industry when this way of seeing the world becomes much more accessible,’ Kharbachi, CEO of EOS-X Space said.
The estimated combined revenues from Spain and Abu Dhabi can reach $353 million in its first year, with a gross profit margin of 19 percent. The company aims to achieve a turnover of $1.127 billion and a gross profit of $324 million, by 2029.
